The inkless method is one of the best solutions for improving the appearance of stretch marks and scars, with more and more people realising how effective the treatment can be. Many people have never heard of this treatment and have no idea how effective it can be at treating stretch marks, lines and scars!
Inkless tattooing is also known as MCA Needling (multi-trepannic collagen actuation), dry needling, medical needling and inkless tattooing. This treatment used to be performed using dry tattooing needles, but is now carried out using a product such as hylaronic acid, or specialised and targeted serums to induce faster skin healing. Many clients have had multiple sessions of laser with little to no result but have seen an improvement after just one session of the inkless camouflage treatment.
Although the treatment uses needles to cause a controlled trauma to the skin for it to restructure and repair its self, it is not the same as traditional micro-needling. Micro-needling uses a different machine with larger cartridges and many more needles spaced further apart and can cover a larger surface area (eg the face) The Inkless stretch mark treatment uses a tattoo machine and needles, with a smaller amount of needles that area able to penetrate the skin more easily and precisely, this ensures we only target the area of the skin that needs repairing.
The inkless method has been proven to be more effective at treating stretch marks and scars than traditional microneedling. It is a medical procedure which needs to be carefully performed by a qualifies and insured technician.
This treatment causes a controlled trauma to the scar or stretch mark, which initiates restructuring and repair and breaking down the scar tissue by triggering collagen production and elastin to rebuild. The inkless treatment helps to smooth deeper and textured stretch marks, it aims to make scars and stretch marks less noticeable. With injury and surgical scars, the needling breaks down tough scar tissue to regenerate softer tissue and relax the scar.
It is not possible to completely get rid of scars or stretch marks, but their appearance can be improved to make them less noticeable.
Keloid scars can't be treated, nor can anyone with a history of keloid scarring. If you are unsure whether you have keloid scars please send me a photo first. Keloid scars are generally re, raised and can be itchy, however may people mistake hypotrophic scars for keloid scars. Hypertrophic scars are perfectly safe to treat. Anyone who is prone to hyper-pigmenatation or post-inflammatory hyper pigmentation need to discuss risks with me prior to treatment. A patch test is often advised, if I decide the risk is too high I will decline to perform the treatment.
All other types of scars and stretch marks can be safely treated, including acne scars, surgery scars tummy tuck scars, breast surgery scars, self harm and injury scars. Scars need to be at least 12 months old before they can be treated and in some cases longer. if your scar is still quite pink, it is still in the healing phase and not ready.
Each client responds differently to this treatment, so I can be difficult to predict your individual result or how many sessions you will need.
Some clients have a fantastic result after one session. some require 3-8 depending on the severity of the scarring and the way your skin responds.
This treatment can be very effective at smoothing and softening scars and stretch marks after just one or two sessions, however everyone is different so I can't predict the results.
if your stretch marks are lighter than the surrounding skin tone then I find that the stretch mark or scar re-pigments very well naturally after one or 2 sessions of the inkless camouflage treatment. If the needling doesnt re-pigment the skin enough naturally then we can look at using camouflage tattoo inks, depending on the colour of the scars and your skin type.
Yes darker stretch marks can be treated with a lightening serum, depending on your skin type. Please send me images or book a free consultation!
